Tasty October: Exploring the Food and Drinks Culture at Wombat’s

Forget the beach body, it’s fall appetite. ;-) October brings some interesting events that go beyond the pure pleasure of great food & drinks offering. It’s a time to reflect on the key role the F&B industry plays in the future of our planet. For example, according to a study by WWF, 40% of habitable land and 70% of freshwater withdrawals are used for food production!

UK Coffee Week: Brewing with Purpose

From 14th to 20th October, the UK celebrates “Coffee Week”, a nationwide campaign that raises funds for "Project Waterfall".

Today, 703 million people around the world lack access to clean water, with the majority living in isolated, rural areas—many of which are coffee-growing regions. UK Coffee Week raises funds for “Project Waterfall”, a charity that provides clean water, sanitation and education to coffee-growing communities across the world.

At Wombat’s, we resonate deeply with this cause, as we believe in sustainable and responsible sourcing for all our food and drinks. This commitment extends to our WomCAFÉs. Our Wombat’s roast coffee is crafted from carefully selected, fair-trade beans. We know exactly where our beans come from and we pay a fair price for them. World Food Day: Sourcing for a Better Future

On 16th October, the “World Food Day” raises awareness about global hunger and the importance of sustainable food practices.

As mentioned in the video, the “journey from farms to our tables” is a carefully curated at Wombat’s:  

We keep the journey is as short as possible for fresh products. We work with local partners to source fresh ingredients like bread for our breakfast menus and pastry for our WomCAFÉs, contributing positively to both the environment and local communities.

We proudly serve Wieninger wines, which are produced sustainably in Vienna’s green vineyards. These biodynamic wines reflect the terroir and vintage of their origin, without the use of artificial fertilizers or pesticides.
