Travel & Sustainability: How Our New Partnership with "myclimate" Creates Real Impact
Travel broadens horizons, but it also comes with responsibility. That’s why we’re excited to introduce our new partnership with myclimate, an internationally recognized organization dedicated to climate protection.
With this cooperation, we want to offer our guests a simple and transparent way to support sustainability-related projects, entirely optional and without any pressure.
How does it work?
When booking your stay at Wombat’s City Hostels, you can choose to tick an optional box and add €0.50 per stay to your booking. For every guest contribution, Wombat’s City Hostels adds another €0.50, doubling the total impact.
The collected funds are invested in two areas:
One Part will support 🌱 certified climate protection projects, including clean drinking water initiatives and deforestation prevention in Uganda, as well as sustainable forest management projects in Austria These projects not only contribute to climate protection but also help improve living conditions in the long term.
Another part of the funds is invested directly in sustainability initiatives within our houses, such as energy and resource efficiency measures.
As a first step, we are currently evaluating the implementation of smart heating control systems in City Hostel Vienna and City Hostel Budapest to reduce energy consumption.
Why are we doing this?
On the one hand, we want to actively contribute and take responsibility for a more sustainable society. On the other hand, we aim to raise awareness about the environmental impact of travel, and show that even small, voluntary contributions can help create a better tomorrow.
Transparency is key to us: This additional contribution is completely optional and does not affect our room rates.
Together with our guests, we’re taking small steps that lead to real impact. 🌍💚
