Summer 2026 in Munich: Music Is in the Air!

events travel tips

Ok, Munich during Oktoberfest season is like florals for spring…

But Munich has a younger, hipper side, too. And this summer, the city shows off what it has to offer a crowd that’s not necessarily into oompah music, hosting some of the biggest music events of the year. From K-Pop icons to rock legends, from R&B superstars to Schlager-Pop royalty: Munich's summer 2026 lineup is absolutely stacked. Our City Hostel Munich Werksviertel is the perfect home base for this summer of events. You’ll find yourself in a buzzing creative district built within a former industrial area, with many events inside our City Hostel...

... as well as right in front of your hostel door. From open-air concerts and street food festivals to art installations and pop-up stalls, there's always something going on. The vibe here is young, international, and refreshingly un-touristy.

Thanks to its location right next to Ostbahnhof (East Train Station), Werksviertel is perfectly connected to public transportation, bringing you quickly to all the major venues.

K-Pop Takes Over Munich

Let's start with a big one: BTS is coming to Munich. The global K-Pop phenomenon will perform two shows at the Allianz Arena on July 11 + 12, and the entire city is already buzzing with anticipation.

Getting there from Wombat's City Hostel Werksviertel: Hop on the U5 + U6, and you're on your way to one of the most spectacular venues in Europe. The Allianz Arena isn't just a football stadium, it's an experience. When it lights up for a concert, it's spectacular!

If you are checking in at the beginning of June, there is already K-Pop around: The “K-Pop Showdown” is happening on June 5 right in Werksviertel, literally 1 minute walk from Wombat's. The event brings together K-Pop fans, dance crews, and performers for an unforgettable celebration of Korean pop culture. And tickets will probably much easier to get than for BTS. ;-)

Rock Legends & Stadium Anthems

The Allianz Arena doesn't stop with BTS. This summer, Munich's iconic stadium becomes a pilgrimage site for music lovers of all genres:

  • Linkin Park: June 11 & 12
  • Foo Fighters: June 17
  • The Weeknd: June 25, 26, 27
  • Helene Fischer: July 17

More Summer Highlights

  • Sommernachtstraum: July 18

Munich's biggest fireworks display of the year doesn't happen on New Year's Eve. It happens in the middle of summer at the Sommernachtstraum (Summer Night's Dream). Live bands (Zoe Wees!) on two stages, food stalls, and thousands of people gathered for a huge party at Olympiapark Munich.

  • FIFA World Cup 2026 – Public Viewing

From June 11 to July 19, the FIFA World Cup 2026 takes over the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Guess where one of the pupular public viewing spots are! At “Knödelplatz” (Dumpling Square) inside Werksviertel! So again, you can enjoy the party just a few steps away from your bed.

Pro tip: Whether you’re coming back from a soccer public viewing, a stadium concert, or a spontaneous summer party, you can always swap stories with fellow globetrotters and local night owls at the legendary in-house WomBAR before crashing into bed.
