Sam Wray
Raised in Milton Keynes Sam’s musical journey was born from his background competing internationally as a street dancer. At 16, inspired by The Beatles, Otis Redding and Bob Dylan he honed his skills as a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist.
He moved to London 2 years later and began busking, playing open mics and working as a session musician. He was in the final of Busk In London in 2019, enjoyed a residency at Hard Rock Cafe and co-wrote with other artists. With the closure of venues that year Sam focused on his own music. His single ‘feeling good’ was supported by BBC Introducing, leading to an interview and a live session performance. He also played the BBC stage at the Bedford River Festival and he was selected for the Yamaha Music London competition in 2022.
Most recently Sam’s talent has taken him to stages across London and beyond, including performances at Sofar Sounds shows in Paris, Nottingham, and London. Sam is also a Pirate Studios resident for 2023, providing him with free creative space and further opportunities to refine his craft and collaborate with other musicians. Notably the development of his incredible backing band. With a growing fan base and a commitment to artistic growth, Sam Wray is evolving. He is currently working on his debut EP that seeks to capture the raw energy and virtuosity of his live performances.
