More than ten years ago, during a ski holiday in the Alps, the Englishman Ryan Inglis met new friends who invited him to perform music in several Munich clubs. At the time, Ryan was travelling across Europe as a musician and took the opportunity—falling in love first with the city, and shortly afterwards with the woman he has been with ever since. What began as a short trip soon turned into a new life.

Today, Ryan Inglis is a well-established figure in Munich’s music scene. As a working musician with an almost inexhaustible repertoire, he plays close to a hundred gigs a year. From the outside, it never feels like work—you can sense that Ryan truly loves what he does. At the same time, his own songs are especially close to his heart, most recently featured on the album Reach Out for Me.

With his distinctive, warm voice, Ryan sings about love and self-discovery, courage and doubt. He dedicated the song You Are the Reason to his adopted home of Munich—a musical declaration of love. In fact, “love” seems to be the common thread running through everything Ryan Inglis does: love for clear, evocative songs, for being a musician, and for the exchange with his audience.

For Ryan Inglis, this connection needs very few words. You wouldn’t notice it on stage, but he actually finds it difficult to talk about himself and his music. It suits his completely unpretentious nature: Ryan Inglis prefers to stand behind the music, letting it speak for him—and in doing so, he reaches the hearts and souls of everyone who listens.
