Dorm was spacious with big lockers for all your luggage. Hostel is clean and tube stations within 10 minutes. Only thing missing for me are curtains around the bunks for a bit more privacy.

Very good location, underground near and small shops etc. Toilets weren’t cleaned as many times they should. It was very hot in the dorm. Windows were open 24/7 which helped. There’s no privacy in the bunk beds. Beds weren’t very comfortable. I’d stay there again :)

We enjoyed our stay. The bathroom interior wasnt really clever. If we had a shower, the water was all over the floor. And there was an unpleasamt smell out of the bathroom.

Everyone was so incredibly nice and we met amazing people! It felt very safe as a young woman. Will be using Wombat again!

Blind wouldn’t close in room 511 resulting in earlier wake up times with the sunlight coming in. No signage explaining how to get tokens for laundry machines or what coins were needed.

Great amenities. The outlets on the beds need to be flipped upside down since most travel adapters will not fit in the current configuration.

Wifi was fairly buggy and would disconnect often. The only thing missing was possibly some hostel events to help people meet each other and explore London as people tended to just congregate at the bar.

Tidy hostel and our first stay for our Europe adventure. The hostel was easy to find and had paid lockers that we could use because we arrived early, which allowed us to explore a bit until it was time to check in. The people at the front desk were friendly and we were able to hire towels. We stayed in a 4 bed dorm with 2 others. The lockers were nicely sized and didnt require your own lock (card key operated). Beds were mostly comfortable but the pillow size/quality was a bit average. The bunks squeeked a little when moving around or scaling but otherwise no issues with the room. The ensuite was nice and tidy and very handy. Check out was also easy with no issues. Would stay again.

An early flight into Luton, took the National Express bus direct to Victoria (why is the bus option not given in your transport advice)? Arrived about 11.30am and kindly informed by reception that check-in wouldn’t be available until 14.00. Bought a coffee and decided to sit and wait. About 13.45 a couple nearby informed me that checking in was now open, why not give out numbers to people that are there earlier to make it fair for those who arrive early? The dorm lockers were not easy to understand, had to ask someone outside in the corridor to assist me, they agreed that it wasn’t easy to understand and also needed help! Positives: Enjoyed the karaoke evening put on The bar prices were very reasonable and friendly staff Check out was swift

The rooms where great, quiet place, close to bus and underground. The bathroom was clean and spacious, and the mattress was comfortable. Only thing I would complain about was the cleanliness in the kitchen, I understand that people are responsible for themselfs, but I shouldn’t have to be affected by the actions of others. Wasn’t really able to cook, and the fridges where a mess. But overall, I was pleased, and would recomend.

Roof top yoga was really really cool! The common aeras are pretty nice as well. Staff is nice too. The windows are quite bad though. My room was facing the street and it was rather loud. The room also looked much bigger and newer in the pictures. The (blue) mattres could have been more comfortable. It felt a bit like sleeping on plastic. Still i guess it’s a good option for young people. Location is also great.

I would first like to say that Rachel at the front desk was an angel and this review is not directed towards her. However, the other girl at the desk was one of the worst, most unprofessional, people I have ever met. We were supposed to be in an all female room, and for the first two nights we had a nice female roommate. However, on the third night we had a male get placed into our room. We went down to the front desk to ask them to move him out and while Rachel was very concerned and confused on why we had been put into a mixed dorm when that wasn’t our reservation, the other girl at the desk did not seem to care. Traveling today as women can be scary enough, which is why we should have gotten the reservation that we paid extra for in the first place. After we were told our problem had been resolved, we came back from dinner and found that he was still in our room. So we had to go down the desk a SECOND TIME to have the room situation changed. During our second time at the desk, they offered HIM a free breakfast token but no refund was offered to US. The other receptionist was very rude explaining this. Rachel told us that she deactivated his card and would move him to another room when he returned to the hostel, but when we got back he was all moved into our room! We should not have had to go down to the desk and plead our case regarding this issue twice to get it finally resolved. Walking into your all female dorm with a man sitting on the bed was a shock not once but twice for us. Highly unsatisfied with how the situation was handled and the rudeness throughout our stay from the other receptionist. Rachel has been the most accommodating and the kindest person at this hostel and we cannot stress enough that this review is not a reflection on her. On top of all of this the washer and dryers that we had to pay extra for did not work properly and we had to hang dry all of our clothes in our room. Considering this was our first stay in a hostel, I was extremely disappointed. The overall experience was not great and I am not sure I would recommend staying here to others.

Creaky bunk frames, noisy doors (the aggressive electronic beep) made it impossible to sleep. I don’t care about the ‘atmosphere of the bar’, if there’s one thing a hostel needs to provide it is a peaceful environment for sleep. Idea: before arrival quiz people on the time of night they go to sleep, arrange room placement based on that info.

This place had a really cool and spacious bar downstairs that was impressive. Our room was typical of a dorm room, with bunk beds and lockers, but we were pleasantly surprised to have a private bathroom and shower. The best part was definitely the basement common areas though – there was so much space and unique seating options that made it a great place to hang out and relax. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely recommend this place to others looking for a fun and social hostel experience.

The rooms were clean and fairly comfortable! Nice modern feel, cool that there was a bar and cafe in the hostel. I had an overall very good experience. Location is really good for walking or taking the tube. Only downside was an EXTREMELY loudly snoring roommate but that is no fault of the hostel. Also laundry is a bit expensive and the dryer didn’t fully dry my clothes. Other than that really nice, would definitely stay here again!

Wombat’s always has a good atmosphere, and the staff are mostly amazing, but two of the staff spoiled my stay a little this time. First, they were very pushy getting people out of the bar to the point that they switched the lights off while I was packing up my laptop and cables which meant I was trying to put everything in my bag in the dark. This just slowed me down, and made me worry if I’d forget something. When I highlighted this to the barman, he was sarcastic, and acted as if I should’ve known better, instead of just putting the lights back on for me. I told him I did nothing wrong, and started packing up as soon as security asked us to leave. I then went upstairs to the lobby area to use my laptop, and ended up in a call with a friend on my laptop between 2am and 4am. The other party was on loudspeaker, but it was no louder than my own voice which was at normal «phone call» level, and would’ve been audible in any case, even if the other party was on a headset or earphones. However, the receptionist suddenly turned the music very loud even though no one else was around except staff. I politely asked him if he could reduce it to its previous level. He agreed, but then didn’t do so. So, I asked him again. He told me that he did it because I was distracting him from his own work by being on a call. He then cited rules that guests must be quiet after 10pm. I felt that he was making this up in the sense that I don’t think a phone call in the lobby area (nowhere near the dorms) qualifies as being «noisy after 10pm». I also found it counterintuitive in that he used this argument right after making the music very loud to drown out my voice. When I pointed out these things, he became very argumentative and antagonistic, eyeballed me, and made everything my fault. He deepened his voice during the argument as if to intimidate which was enforced by his large stature. He was clearly self-aware of this, but when I pointed it out, he piped down. In general, my experience at Wombat’s is good, but I was surprised that I had two incidents with staff late at night in the space of a couple of hours. I think night staff need to be trained that customer service is just as important for the night owls when the place is less busy as with guests during the day when there are more people around. Otherwise, it can result in complaints and reviews like this!

The London location clearly has notices posted regarding noise outside and congregating outside the building in the evening. The wombats website clearly has an interior noise policy as part of the house rules. However, when confronted with instances of noise, I was informed by reception multiple times that the London hostel «does not really have a quiet hours policy.» We were woken up at 1 AM on our first night by the neighbors screaming and yelling in the hallway and this continued in their room until 2 AM. They were drunk and did not care. Reception the night of and the day after were completely useless.

Overall I enjoyed this place. Some pros are the 24 hour reception, great common areas and good security. Ways to make this place better: curtains on the bunks, lockers not being placed in awkward areas (behind door), free bag drop, larger shelf in bunk area, instead of keycards maybe a bracelet, assigned beds so we don’t have to deal with the tiny easy to lose bed number tag.

I stayed for 5 nights at wombats city hostel and it was perfect. The staff were very friendly. Reception was open 24 hours which I really liked. The rooms were clean and modern. Quite small for 6 beds but other areas of the hostel made up for that with the cafe, kitchen and dining area, outside dining area and the bar. Couldn’t recommend more highly. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed in a female only 6 beds dorm room. The shower room was super spacious and it was great having another sink in the room. I would have loved to have a shelf in the toilet room though. There was nothing to put your stuff on. Matress was comfy, but the pillow was too too thin. The room was above the road and it was super noisy. The windows were not the best. The location was amazing though. Overall I would stay here again but in one of the rooms far from the road.
