The highly anticipated results are in! Hostelworld, a global leader in youth accommodation and social travel, has announced their 2025 Customer Annual Ratings (HOSCARs) - the only travel awards specifically recognizing excellence in the hostel sector.

And guess what? Wombat's City Hostels absolutely crushed it!

These coveted awards aren't just any accolades - they're based on real reviews from over 7 million bookings, making them the most authentic reflection of traveler experiences worldwide. Reviews cover key criteria including overall customer experience, value for money, security, location, atmosphere, staff, cleanliness, and facilities.

Our "homebase," the City Hostel Vienna, took home the gold as the Best Hostel in Austria. Our City Hostel London even clinched awards in three major categories: Best Extra Large Hostel, Most Popular Hostel, and Best Hostel by Continent!
