Receiving awards is a great honour for us. It validates us in our work and our actions.
The HOSCARS (HOStelworld Customer Annual Ratings) Hostel awards take place every year to recognize the best hostels in the world. More than 23,000 properties from across the globe, all featured on Hostelworld.com, are eligible for the awards. The best hostel winners were voted for by over 900,000 customers worldwide who booked their accommodation online and rated and reviewed the hostel on six criteria - character, security, location, staff, fun and cleanliness.

- 2004: Cleanest Hostel worldwide: wombats CITY HOSTEL Munich
- 2008, 2009: Most popular Hostel in Austria: wombats CITY HOSTEL "The Lounge"
- 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009: Best hostel chain worldwide
We achieved a particularly distinct honour in 2009 with the Hospitality Innovation Award. The co-operation of PKF hotelexperts and Hotelforum Management GmbH awards this prize for “major achievements in the international hospitality industry”. This is the first time the award has been presented to a hostel chain.
