Liveball 2008 / 14.05.08
The 16th Life Ball blasts off into the vastnesses of outer space and uses this imagery to explore the social issues of Aids in all its societal aspects and, at the same time, to emphasize “universal” togetherness.
The fear of the alien “other” stokes fears, creates lack of understanding and encourages intolerance. Not only if the otherness is manifested in cultures, religions or uncommon ways of living, but especially when ignorance effects issues such as sexuality – and even more so, when this intimate togetherness implies dangers. As in the case of HIV and Aids.
The Life Ball 2008 fully embraces this controversial discussion and artistically and ideologically enhances it to a higher sphere.
