15.9.-15.11.: Vienna, Wine & Design

Besides being an own winegrowing region, Vienna today is a city with a lively, dynamic wine scene.

Plant, cultivate, harvest, press or design, study, prototype, marketable product: just like product design, the development of wine demands expertise, passion and – by no means least important – good environmental conditions too. The city of Vienna provides fertile ground for both wine and design. Don’t miss out on either,  especially not in the rich golden sunshine of fall.

Wine growing looks back on more than two thousand years of tradition in Vienna.

700 hectares of vineyards are cultivated within the city limits – they shape the cityscape, are an important ecological factor, as well as a popular local recreational area. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, the classic “blended wine” and also the Blauer Zweigelt are enjoyed either at traditional “heuriger” (wine taverns) on the outskirts of the city, or in the many Viennese restaurants increasingly turning their attention to Viennese wine.

Enjoy and win

From September 15-November 15, 2010 the Vienna, Wine and Design promotion provides the perfect opportunity to see, sample and experience Viennese wine and design. There is also a competition with a star prize of 999 bottles of Viennese wine to be shared between three lucky winners. There are also instant prizes to be won at the tourist information office on Albertinaplatz in the city center.
