Team Munich
our crazy staff
Well, that’s the whole wombunch chilling in our favourite spot of wombats: the winter garden! (Some bad apples might say that it’s the bar but that’s SO not true! At least if there’s still some beer left in our glasses…). Too bad that’s it’s not our real workstation. We’re strewn over the reception, the bar and the barren wastelands of the back office. And of course there are some poor buggers who have to clean up the mess day after day after day…
Most of our staff are students who love to travel all over this little blue planet “in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy”. Like you!
So they know exactly what it’s like to fall off the night train and crawl into a hostel, desperately searching for a bed in a seemingly nutty town.
Doesn’t matter if you’re old or young, tall or small, sane or mad:
All of you are most welcome!
…as long as you strip your f***ing bed yourselves. :-)
But with the words of THE most important guide book in all history:
DON’T PANIC
SASKIA
Hey guys, I am Saskia,
Wombats Munich is a bit like my baby as I work here since the very beginning .
I love being around and working with young people from all over the world.
My mission is that all our ships sail in the same direction :-)
I love living in Munich because of its great beer gardens, surroundings like the lakes and the mountains. You find something to do here in any season!
MANUELA
My name is Manuela but most of my friends call me Manu or little Miss Giggles. Though I have been travelling the world and living and working abroad quite a bit during the last few years Wombat’s has always been my family I’ve been drawn back to. ;) I am originally from Austria, well, that’s what my passport states at least. However I have probably spent more time anywhere else in the world than Austria, I think. ;)
My feet have been itchy ever since I got back from my first big trip. Thanks to post travel blues I was desperate to find a job that keeps me connected with the backpacking world – all of you awesome people out there- and- yay- I was fortunate enough to become part of the Wombats family.
In my time off and every time I miss Hawaii and all the cute surfboys, too much, I usually hangout at the Eisbachwelle. Even my“husband to be”*I wish*Jack Johnson has already been riding it... ;)
After riding the Moose in Canada and having been separated from my Wombat’s family once again, I decided it was about time to come back home again for a little while…and well here I am, in the back office, now…and as Michael Buble would say – “we have to work so we can work to work it out”...;)
TORSTEN
Hey folks!
My name is Torsten but friends and foreigners who can’t pronounce it may call me To.
My story is a typical student’s tale:
I began to study, started working at Wombats in 2004 as a night shifter at reception, fell in love with it, finished studying, didn’t give a damn about that fact and continued at Wombats.
So actually I’m a sports therapist, yoga teacher and alternative practitioner but what the hell. Sometimes you may also see me riding my cute rickshaw through the inner city.
Meanwhile I changed to the back office because I couldn’t stand it anymore being at the front desk, raging with jealousy by the look of happy people with backpacks cruising around. ;-)
Meaning I’m addicted to travelling myself and praise the Flying Spaghetti-Monster that Wombats allows me to sneak away to any corner of this mad world every now and then.
I love hiking - especially in the mountains - so all you guys from Nepal: Beware!
When I’m not out and about you can meet me at our beautiful Isar river at one of the myriads of campfires, a Käsekrainer in one hand and a cool Augustiner beer in the other, relaxing with some good people.
Apart from 42 that’s my meaning of life.
“Now. Bring me that horizon!”
MATTHIAS | FRANZISKA |
My name is Matthias and I have been at wombats since July, 2007. Basically, my job is located at the front desk and comes with all duties we refer to as reception. We, as receptionists at wombats, are anywhere at anytime and all questions are welcome. | Hey, I'm Franziska and I work at the Wombar. I'm there for 5 months now and I can really say that I enjoy it. I hope you have a nice time at the Wombat's and meet so many interesting people as I do |
JULIA | CHRISSY |
Ciao! | Aloha! |
MAXIME | MAGS |
Hey everyone, I’m Maxime. I’ve been working at the Wombats reception since April 2010. I love meeting people from all over the world, listening to their stories and trying to make their stay in Munich unforgettable. | Hey guys, I’m Mags. |
STEFFI & NAT | TOM |
Hello guys, | Hey you guys out there! I am called Tom, 27 years old –a real Bavarian from Munich. |
RITA
Hi - I'm Rita, from Berlin and I'm the head of our womBar team. My job is to make u're nights in our bar unforgettable and that we always have enough beer and spirits in our stock.
If I'm not in our bar, I'm visiting concerts & festivals as much as I can, because I'm also a music journalist, working for different magazines. That's why we aren't just the best hostels bar, we're also playing the best music in town!
JANNA | STEFFI |
Hey there. I´m Janna, a true „Münchner Kindl“, born in Munich and still living here. But i love to see the world, lived in Australia and Spain for a bit, and go as far as i can, whenever i can. But because of my studies i can´t travel that often, so I try to make Munich as much fun as possible. | Hello everybody! |
SUNNY
... last but not least our "womDog" SUNNY :)
