Hi zusammen,
ich war nun das Erstemal bei Wombats, und muss sagen, dass ich jederzeit wieder kommen würde!
Ein geiles Hostel! Super Zimmer, sehr nette Mitarbeiter, sauber und super tolle Atmosphere.

Hi everyone! I have one question... Is The Base wheelchair friendly? I'm disabled and search some cheaper accomodation in Vienna,this looks very affordable,but always the same problem... is it accesible for me?... 2-3 stairs aren't problem,there's always someone to help... but if there's no room on the ground or elevator,that is usually problem...!

No worries, our hostel has an elevator and the entrance has no stairs. We have two wheelchair-friendly double rooms in that they are having bath tubs instead of the usual showers.

Wir sind am Samstag zurück gekommen aus Wien und haben wirklich eine Hammerzeit bei euch gehabt letzte Woche. Wir vermissen Wien und vor allem die WomBar schon ;-). Die Mitarbeiter vor allem an der Rezeption und Bar waren ganz nett!

Just to explain the 10 year celebration: Of course, we gonna celebrate first and foremost "The Base", but as this house was the first one and the start of the hostel chain itself, we also want to celebrate the Wombats in general. But, no worries, if you don´t wanna move on to "The Lounge" later in the evening, there will be more than enough party going on in "The Base" the whole evening.

Prinzipiell haben wir keinen eigenen Parkplatz, aber die Strassen und Gassen rund um unser Hostel sind keine Kurzparkzone (Kurzparkzone ist nur auf der Mariahilfer Strasse). Manchmal muss man vielleicht 5 Minuten suchen bis man einen Parkplatz findet, aber es haben schlussendlich noch alle einen gefunden;-)

Well, the Lounge is a bit closer to the train station (about 2 min.) and the Base is about a 10 min. walk from the station, but still very central.

Wir waren zwar nur für eine Übernachtung in der Base aber ich kann es absolut empfehlen!! Alles gut organisiert und die Zimmer waren sauber!
Wenn ich mal wieder nach Wien komme, werde ich sicherlich wieder ins Wombat´s gehen!

Wombats hat mir sehr gefallen, man kann im Vorfeld anrufen und bekommt immer Hilfe und auch vor Ort sehr freundliches Personal und coole Atmosphäre.
Und wenn es jetzt noch stabilere Stühle und einen Klodeckel geben würde dann könnte man nicht meckern :-)

Had an amazing time for the short time I was there at the base. The location isn't as great as the Lounge but its only a MINOR inconvenience, still very close to everything. Staff was very friendly and extremely helpful, answered all my questions and were great with directions. Room was great, I liked having a washroom in the room as opposed to out in the hall like most hostels I've stayed in. The bar was great, although it did close a little early, same goes for the smoking patio. The people staying in the hostel were extremely friendly as well, met a few people before I even checked in! The seperate building with the lounge and kitchen was very nice, great for late night jams if you bring along an instrument. Highly recommend staying here and I will definately be returning as soon as cash and time allows me to. Thanks again Wombats!

The stay at the Wombats Hostel- The Base was great. I was not expecting the Hostel to be so clean and the staff to be so helpful. I loved the morning breakfast. The atmosphear in the bar was also very cool. I think I can suggest this hostel to others.

Also am Besten im Wombats fand ich ganz eindeutig den Receptionisten Chris. Und dass er sich für die Rocky Horror Picture Show so geil gestylt hat war auch sehr unterhaltsam für uns 25 Mädls aus Braunau!

I got home yesterday from Vienna...I miss the Base and the good atmosphere in the pub after dinner! I spent three awesome days =)
PS: why don't you give the guests a rag to clean the floor after a shower? Some room mates DO make a pond in the toilet...
