Music Film Festival at Vienna City Hall
19 July - 12 September 2010
1., Rathausplatz, Vienna
Against the backdrop of the illuminated City Hall, a first-rate program on a giant screen gets the hearts of all music lovers beating faster as darkness falls. The selection of classical superhits ranges from opera and operetta to dance and concert performances.
The main focus is on the year's regents for 2010: Frédéric Chopin, Gustav Mahler, Leonard Bernstein and Pierre Boulez. Recordings of the dream opera duo, Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón, and piano virtuoso Lang Lang are on the program, as are jazz evenings by legends Grace Jones, Natalie Cole and Herbie Hancock.
The program of musical film from 19 to 23 July is also very much in the spirit of the International AIDS Conference (18 - 23 July 2010). Documentaries on Rudolf Nureyev and Klaus Nomi will be screened, as well as the Swan Lake ballet by Matthew Bourne, in which all the swan dancers are men.
Every day, around 20 top restaurateurs invite you to embark on a culinary world tour starting in the morning, with lavish delights from all over the world.
