Music Film Festival at City Hall Square / 04.07.2011

Every summer, City Hall Square becomes a pulsating meeting point for classical fans and night owls – with lots to please the palate as well as free film shows.

Against the backdrop of the illuminated City Hall, a first-rate program on a giant screen gets the hearts of all music lovers beating faster as darkness falls. The selection of classical super-hits ranges from opera and operetta to dance and concert performances.

In focus are famous names with an anniversary in 2011: Gustav Mahler (100th anniversary of his death), Franz Liszt (200th birthday) and Plácido Domingo (70th birthday and 50 years on stage). Snapshots of the truly great stars of opera, such as Anna Netrebko, Jonas Kaufmann, Herbert von Karajan, Gustavo Dudamel or Christian Thielemann, are as abundant as jazz with Dave Brubeck or dance with Jiri Kylian.
