Carnival of Cultures / 11.05.2012

Berlin is a city with a large international population. Among the 3.4 million inhabitants of the German capital 450.000 do not have the German citizen-ship. Many more have a mixed ethnic background. Its time again to celebrate that!

The carnival will start on friday the 25th of may. Friday and saturday traditionaly are the days where people gather in Kreuzberg to celebrate Berlins cultural diversity. On those dates certain streets in Berlin Kreuzberg are blocked for traffic and you have different stages for music and alot of different food stands.

Although you don't really need an excuse to celebrate emphatically in Berlin, we Berliners think that these days are the most exciting ones during the whole year.

On sunday of the same weekend the actual street parade starts at 12:30 and goes til 6 pm. Last year there were 1.36 million people celebrating during the street parade.

It is a must go if you are in Berlin during those dates and if you are not sure which dates to visit berlin, you know now.
