An extravagant house is catching people's attention this year in front of the Mariahilferstrasse U2 station: It's the "Flederhaus".
Despite its name, it's not full of bats, but a cluster of hammocks. A certain association with the nocturnal animals may still come up. GRIFFNER created the wooden structure as art object. It's meant to symbolize sustainable building and inspire reflection. Wood is experiencing a renaissance as an energy-efficient, environmentally friendly, and truly green construction material. The "Flederhaus" was designed by the architect team heri&salli. In fall, the "Flederhaus" will find a new home where it can again serve as an oasis of relaxation and a symbol of sustainability.
