Albertina Contemporary / 30.08.2011
The exhibition Albertina Contemporary has two focal points: in addition to German and American artists of the Batliner collection, new acquisitions of recent years are also shown. Anselm Kiefer, Gerhard Richter, Georg Baselitz, Jörg Immendorf and Alex Katz can be seen, as can works by Marlene Dumas, Eric van Lieshout or Sonja Gangl.
The artists are group by content around different criteria:
- abstract items (with works by Damien Hirst and Heimo Zobernig)
- politically involved art (e.g. Kiki Smith or William Kentridge)
- contemporary wood cuttings (works by Anselm Kiefer and Ofer Lellouche)
- brush drawings (e.g. Ugo Rondinone or Sam Szafran)
The entrance to the exhibition is dedicated to the four great German artists: Baselitz, Kiefer, Richter and Sigmar Polke. A total of 180 works of contemporary art can be seen.
