Ice Skating in Vienna´s City Center – The Vienna Ice Dream

Need a good reason to leave the house in freezing Vienna? How about ice skating in the middle of Vienna´s historic city center?
Until March 2015, City Hall Square (Rathausplatz) is transformed into a gigantic ice surface.
Explore an enormous fairy-tale ice-skating rink, six curling lanes, a 750 metres long ice-skating trail through the park, a great variety of organic and regional food and an enlarged indoor seating area in the style of a mountain cabin await the guests at this year’s Vienna Ice Dream.

How to get there

The next Underground station is “Rathaus” on the purple U2 line. If you´re staying at wombat´s CITY Hostel the Naschmarkt just go one stationt in U4 and change to U2 on Karlsplatz. Stying at wombat´s CITY Hostel the Lounge or wombat´s CITY Hostel the Base take the U3 direction Simmering and change to the U2 at Volkstheater.

Those who prefer riding the tramway just head towards Vienna´s famous Ringroad and take one of the lines there. Tramways D, 1 and 71 stop at Rathaus/Burgtheater and hopping off at Parlament you could also take Tramway 2.

Culinary delights

The Vienna Ice Dream has a great choice of high-quality regional and organic food and drinks such as mulled wine, punch, warm milk drinks as well as salmon or sweet treats.
Just be careful with mulled wine and other regional drinks offered if you want to go back on the ice after yoiur break ;)
The seven caterers provide guests with a choice of more than 60 different kinds of sweet and spicy almonds, pancakes, waffles, sausages, and other typical winter fare.
There´s definetly more calories available than you could ever burn skating the rinks of Vienna Ice Dream.
